The Course
Andrew Carnegie bought Skibo in 1898 and rebuilt it as a Highland seat on a scale that still surprises: eight thousand acres, a loch, a walled garden, and a castle that runs as a private club rather than a hotel.
The Carnegie Links runs out along the Dornoch Firth on the estate's own ground — short by championship measure, exposed to every wind that comes off the water, and played by perhaps a handful of people on any given day.
Access is by member introduction, and the rhythm of the place is the point: pipes at dinner, no bills presented, and Royal Dornoch ten minutes up the road when you want a second round.
Suggested tee times
Light, tide and traffic all change the character of the round. These are the windows we hold first — subject to the club's own release and to the season.
09:00 – 10:00
After breakfast, unhurried
The estate rhythm. Breakfast in the great hall, then out on an empty links with a caddie.
14:00 – 15:00
Second round of the day
Royal Dornoch in the morning, Skibo after lunch — the classic Sutherland pairing.
18:30 – 19:30
Nine holes before dinner
Midsummer light and the firth going silver. Pipes at eight, so keep it to nine holes.
Times are indicative. Your held slots are confirmed in writing with the starter and caddie master before you travel.
The Gallery

"Carnegie built it so that no one need ask for anything twice. A century on, nobody does."
