The Course
The Ailsa is Scotland's most cinematic links — a run of holes that thread the lighthouse, skirt the cliffs, and give the Firth of Clyde and the granite dome of Ailsa Craig the leading role.
The redesigned ninth green sits on the rocks below the lighthouse itself. It is the most photographed piece of golfing ground in the country, and rightly so.
We arrange play with a lighthouse suite above, dinner at 1906, and — for those inclined — a helicopter transfer along the Ayrshire coast at golden hour on the day of arrival.

"Turnberry is the only course in Scotland where guests arrive early just to walk it before they play it."

Before you play
Access, timing and the practicalities of arranging a round at Ailsa at Turnberry. If your question isn't here, the concierge will answer it directly.
Yes — Ailsa is a resort course, and visiting tee times are available to guests of the hotel. Staying on property is the surest route to a morning time on the lighthouse holes.
Most guests do. It shares the same coastline, plays a shade gentler, and makes an ideal second round on an arrival or departure day.
Nine to eighteen months for the summer months, and longer where a specific date matters. Ailsa's prime summer mornings are typically committed twelve months out. We hold provisional dates while the rest of the week is built around the round.
Yes. A senior local caddie is booked per guest as a matter of course, and premium rental sets are placed in the car if you would rather not travel with your own. Clubs can also be shipped ahead and waiting in the pro shop.
Always. A round is never sold alone — the private car, the house you sleep in, the table booked for dinner and the pacing of the day are arranged together, so the golf sits inside a week rather than beside it.
Scottish links play in most weather, and the round usually goes ahead. Where a course closes, we move the tee time within the week or substitute a comparable links nearby, and any unrecoverable green fee is returned in full.
