The Course
The Old Course is the ground on which the game was written — six centuries of play across the same fairways, the same seven double greens, the same Swilcan Bridge crossed at first light by everyone who has ever mattered to golf.
We secure Old Course tee times privately, well ahead of the ballot. Rounds are paired with rooms in town, an experienced local caddie for each guest, and, when we can arrange it, a quiet introduction inside the Royal & Ancient Clubhouse.
It is not a course to be played once and ticked. We prefer two rounds — one to be humbled, one to answer.

Access, timing and the practicalities of arranging a round at The Old Course. If your question isn't here, the concierge will answer it directly.
Can you secure the Old Course without entering the ballot?
Yes. Our Old Course times are secured off-ballot through advance allocations held with authorised partners, so your round is confirmed in writing before you travel rather than decided by a draw two days out.
Do we need a handicap certificate?
The Old Course asks for a handicap of 24 (men) or 36 (ladies) or better, with a certificate or official record presented at the starter's box. We collect this well in advance so nothing is queried on the morning.
Which other St Andrews courses can be added?
The New, Jubilee, Castle and Kingsbarns nearby are all available, and are often played the afternoon before or the morning after the Old Course to settle into the ground.
How far ahead should we book the Old Course?
Nine to eighteen months for the summer months, and longer where a specific date matters. Old Course allocations for the following season are largely spoken for by the previous autumn. We hold provisional dates while the rest of the week is built around the round.
Are caddies and clubs arranged for us?
Yes. A senior local caddie is booked per guest as a matter of course, and premium rental sets are placed in the car if you would rather not travel with your own. Clubs can also be shipped ahead and waiting in the pro shop.
Do you handle transfers and accommodation as well as the tee time?
Always. A round is never sold alone — the private car, the house you sleep in, the table booked for dinner and the pacing of the day are arranged together, so the golf sits inside a week rather than beside it.
What happens if the weather closes in?
Scottish links play in most weather, and the round usually goes ahead. Where a course closes, we move the tee time within the week or substitute a comparable links nearby, and any unrecoverable green fee is returned in full.
